For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring us to God.
– 1 Peter 3:18
The gospel means good news and it’s the news of God’s grace coming to His world through His Son.
It is the grand narrative of history, from creation and our rejection of God, to his promise and faithful pursuit of us, all leading to the life, death, resurrection His Son Jesus Christ. Christ’s crucifixion is the heart of the gospel. His resurrection is the power of the gospel. His life today is the great news of the gospel.
Jesus Christ is our life and hope. He lived a perfectly righteous and sinless life, died our place, paying the just penalty for our sins and reconciling us to God. As our substitute, on the cross Jesus Christ suffered and died in our place to forgive us, love us, cleanse us, and embrace us. Because Jesus died for our sins we seek to humbly confess our sins to Jesus Christ and one another, put sin to death in our life, forgive one another, and happily invite others to do the same.
God is to be known. This is through what He has made and more so what He has said through His Son. We believe the Bible reveal to us Jesus Christ and it its words hold life. Because God is a loving Father who speaks, we seek to hear from Him and test everything by the Word of God.
The local church is a community of renewed believers who declare Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. It’s a people transformed and motivated by His love, which looks outward to the good of others. It is a community with a clear purpose to share this same love with all who they meet.
Christians celebrate a hope that is found only in Jesus. As we see our worlds brokenness, we do not despair, knowing that when Jesus returns this world will be renewed and as He is life, we too will share in a new life with Him. Its this hope that shapes our mind and actions, moving to a life of sacrificial obedience to Him.
